The Building Commissioner is responsible for the enforcement of the Massachusetts State Building Code and other related codes, regulations, and laws. This involves the planning, organizing and supervision of building, electrical, plumbing, gas, and mechanical inspection work. Under the general supervision of the Senior Building Inspector, processes building permit applications and examines and approves plans for new buildings/structures, for repairs and alterations of existing buildings/structures in compliance with the State Building Code and other selected codes and ordinances.
